Eating out in San Diego is a nice relaxed way to spend the evening. You will find that restaurants aren’t too expensive, there is a good selection to choose from and it is more relaxed than eating out in some other Californian cities.
The best selection of restaurants is in the Gaslamp Quarter. Situated close to downtown San Diego, there are close to a hundred places offering everything from huge breakfasts to evening meals, sometimes with more effort put into the meal’s appearance than anything else. Either way, this particular district is a good place to go for eats.
Other parts of the city which are favourites with tourists, backpackers and locals alike are Mission Beach and Ocean Beach. Like most coastal cities, parts of the city close to the sea are always much-loved places to dine out.
San Diego is a good place to sample seafood, thanks to the natural harbour. Other city specialities are pizzas and Italian food, particularly in Little Italy. To ensure you get the best of both worlds, try a pizza or pasta dish with some fish!
